    My shotgun is really heavy!

I have a Mossberg 500 with a short lop stock, and while it's pretty light unloaded or loaded with 2 or 3 rounds, when I load all 5 rounds in the tube, I can only hold it shouldered for less than half a minute without getting too fatigued. The problem is that all of the weight is at the end of the gun so the torque is really big.

Any suggestions on how to balance the shotgun so it isn't so front heavy? I shot an ar 15 at a range and it felt like a toy compared to my shotgun despite that they should weigh about the same (around 7 lbs).

I'm not sure what you want us to tell you, maybe a sling? If you aren't able to hold up a shotgun maybe consider something else?

If you add a buttstock ammo saddle and a side saddle ammo carrier, it'll bring the weight back into the center and back side of the shotgun. This will balance out the gun causing less muzzle rise, less perceived recoil, and easier maneuverability.

Yeah, the AR15's kick like .22lr rifles compared to even the lightest 12 ga loads. Also 5 1 ounce slugs are going to weight more than 10 tiny .22 bullets in hollow brass cases. 1 ounce = 437.5 grains - there is no AR caliber bullet that weighs anywhere close to just the slug weight.

The mossberg is one of the lightest shotguns out there. I say you start hitting the gym and if that doesnt help then maybe get yourself a handgun for home defense.

Put a weight in the stock to balance it better. Otherwise... hit the gym.

There are actually methods to hold a shotgun at the ready so you won't get so fatigued. One way is to tuck your elbows in against your body. That way you use less arm muscle and rely more on skeletal support.

Average weights for a pump is 7.5 lb unloaded. Unless you buy a lightweight shotgun, you will have to build the strength to hold it.

                              Thanks for the responses.

I will try weighing down the stock to balance the weight. I found that if I bring my hand way up the grip my trigger hand can help support the weight and I can hold it shouldered at a target for about a minute. I guess a handgun would be a better option for me since I could probably keep the handgun pointed for a lot longer than a shotgun which would be better in a home defense situation.
