Yesterday I learned that Wayne Mayes, one of the highest rated competition skeet shooters ever, passed away from burns he suffered three months ago at his home in Texas. Wayne was known as the G.O.A.T; greatest of all time.
Wayne had 200 100 straights in the .410. He won the World Skeet Championships and just about every other top shoot numerous times.
At the same time, Todd Bender, another top rated shooter, lost his wife.
I have been fortunate enough to watch both of these champions shoot. You may considerer yourself a good skeet shooter, but it is most humbling to watch true masters of the game shoot off at stations 3,4 & 5 through boxes of ammo in order to beat a competitor.
