Shotgun Question

Hi I am looking to purchase a shotgun and would like to know how short can the barrel to for it to be legal? Do they sell any short barrel shotguns in California that are legal? Also I am looking to purchase an assault rifle and was wondering do they come in a more compact model?

Shotgun has to be 26" in overall length and the barrel must not be less than 18".

I doubt you'll be buying an assault rifle. An assault rifle is a selective fire (selective between automatic, semi-automatic, and burst fire) rifle that uses an intermediate cartridge and a detachable magazine.

Exactly. Read the flowcharts, compare them to models that are available, then once you've got a more specific idea of what you want... you'll be able to ask "better" questions.

But, they are only sold to Gov/Mil/LE agencies, FFL/SOT and Dangerous Weapons Permit holders.

An assault rifle is a type of machinegun (MG).

Under Federal & CA laws...
There are no minimum length requirements for a MG.

Also under CA laws...
MGs are restricted to Gov/Mil/LE agencies, FFL/SOT and Dangerous Weapons Permit holders.

You can have a AOW shotgun.But not so sure how easy it is to get the tax stamp.A AOW shotgun is made from a virgin receiver that never had a stock or a long barrel.Serbu makes them one was based on the Rem. and the other Mossberg with a 6.5 barrel and holds 2 in the tube and 1 in the chamber.Impact guns has 1 made from a 590 with a 14 inch barrel for 510 dollers.All you need is a 5 doller tax stamp.
