No I dont, but have you considered borrowing/renting one to see how he likes it? My buddy is a small dude, and wanted one too. Rented one for him and he ended sticking to his ar.

I've shot 870s and as far as hunting/trap go I'd never spend the money on one unless it was a wingmaster. My favorite shotgun for skeet and trap is my Winchester 1200, bought it used from a family member when I was 13 yrs old. My grandfather has a Winchester 20ga semi auto I like shooting a lot too. I really never was a big fan of 20 ga until the ammo shortage started, couldn't find 12 ga at Walmart but there usually was a brick of 20 on the shelf. When my son starts shooting in a couple years(he's 5 yrs old now) I'm going to look for a .410.

Yes he shoots my 1100 and his older brothers 870 lw 20 ga. He shoots goofy handed but has no problem with the ejection. I guess I will swing by oaktree today.

I bought a New England Arms .410 back in the mid 80s just for popping squirrels around my place, and my son took it over as his first shotgun when he was first learning. Those single shots are perfect for teaching a young'un, and a .410 is just plain fun to shoot.

WTF? That's like comparing apples to oranges. Shotguns and rifles are two totally different things.

As a NRA certified shotgun instructor and someone who likes .410s, I'm going to disagree with you. A .410 is considered more of an expert's gun and is not a good beginner's gun. Even the 6 year old I once saw shooting in a scholastic trap program was shooting a 28g. The 9 year old girls were shooting 20s. .410s don't pattern the same as other shotguns either.

                meh

You could try big 5 and sports authority. I'd also suggest looking into the Hawk 982 or the Mavrick 88 or the Dual barrel combo at big 5.

Are there any Turners anywhere near you? I'd check with them, Dick's, Sports Authority and Big 5.

The Rem 870 is a great starter pump shotgun for anyone and your son does have expeience with his brothers 870.

I don't recommend the cheaper pumps like the Mossberg Maverick or any off band...stick to what you know and are familiar with.

Why not drop a grand and get him a Benelli M2 20ga....DOH!

I ordered a 870 from Oaktree today and they gave me their sale price for next week $359. At that price I might get a new one for me. I couldn't believe how many ar's and lowers they had in stock.
