    Benelli Nova Tactical

I don't have a shotgun but always wanted one. I found a deal for a NIB Benelli Nova Tactical for $325 shipped, from what I understand these are pretty nice. Is this a good start shotgun?

Just picked mine up today. I have yet to shoot it, though I might sneak off to Reed's today (I'm doing the whole Mother's day thing). Here are some observations---about the same weight as my 870, which surprises me because of the polymer receiver; a little bulky but very solid; very smooth action.

Truth be told though my 870 points a hell of a lot faster. I'll update if I go shooting today.

FlyingPen---I went to the range today. The Nova was a blast. Recoil was manageable even with rifled slugs and the ghost rings were sighted from the factory spot on.

I highly recommend the Nova, but may I suggest spending a little more and getting the Supernova like I did. That way you have a choice of stocks, whereas the standard Nova has the one piece stock and receiver and cannot be reconfigured.
