    model 97 Black Diamond

Hello all, so I inherited my grandfathers shotgun. model 97 takedown trap gun.
looked it up in my books and it appeared to be worth around $900.00. But it has these small black diamonds in either side of the stock. couldnt find anything on it. SoI take it to my local gun shop, and one of the guys is really into winchesters... He offered me $3500.00 on the spot. Although tempting, I just dont want to part with it. Any way, I was just wondering if anyone might have some info as to what this thing might be worth. serial # 725xxx, and if I remember correctly, 90% condition was what I was told... Any info would be greately appreciated.....

Made in 1920. I can't ever remember a BD 97 Trap gun bringing $3500. Post some pics.

There were 1,024,701 Model 1897's made from 1897 to 1957. Based on Bert Hartmans survey of the Model 1897, approximately 4% of the total production were Black Diamond Trap Guns. Is anything engraved on the bolt? It should say Trap Gun.
The new Photobucket sucks, it was giving me fits too. Clk on the pic you want to post, and off to the right is the selection. Find "img" and clk on that, it'll say "copied", then paste it to your post here.
