    Mossberg 930 SPX Tactical

Anything else of comperable performance and cost I should be looking at? Needed primarily for HD but would like to hunt with it at some point.

The Remington 1100 is another contender that's around the same price range probably a little more. But I have a 930spx and I love it. It's my favorite firearm. There's saiga 12s or a mka1919. I have a mka1919 but I don't like the bullet button on shotguns ordeal.

      Remington pumps > Mossberg pumps
      Mossberg semi's > Remington semi's

      Just one mans opinion.

If you get the mossy and dont like it, I'll trade you my 1187 special purpose tactical in a second.

I just picked up a brand new 930 spx (non pistol grip) from ammo bros for 649$. Gunna buy some ammo at the gun show this weekend and test it. Hopefully it shoots consistent. Kinda hit or miss reviews depending on ammo used. Ill report back Sunday ha

I love mine, I've had it for a wile now and it is as reliable as an anvil...
I do like it better since I traded the rear sight and barrel for a field, security combo. The GR sights are slower than a bead sight and I use it for hunting and clay more than anything. When someone asks me for a good shotgun recommendation I always say 930 field, security over the SPX. The $100 savings and more uses for a great weapon is a done deal for me...

You're going to want another gun to hunt. An 18" cylinder bore won't cut it for upland or waterfowl.

Good stuff guys thanks. Looks like the 930 is promising...if I can find it in stock anywhere. Anyone know if the Blackwater is CA legal?

I have never had a shotgun. I assume getting two barrels in the meantime is a pain? With HD and Hunting in mind - is there such thing as a compromised set up? Or I will simply have to hide another rifle from the wife?

THIS....is your best option. Barrel swaps are simple and quick.

get a Mossberg 930 JM Pro instead

                      1. Higher capacity 9+1
                      2. Comes with chokes and threaded barrel
                      3. Comes with choke wrench
                      4. Bead sight is much better than the stupid front sight on SPX
                      5. Costs less than the SPX

Dang, I like the front sight on my spx. Great visibility, very bright, rabbit ear protection, accurate, rugged.....

Super fun gun. I've even got the mag tube reassembly (sp) down pat.

                          bead sights are must faster

....those stock sights for the spx are more for slugs at a distance....
