You don't have to be a club member to compete, or win a buckle.

Hi Brad or whoever may know, I've done their fun shoots (big bonanza) and always have had a great time. Noob sporting clay related questions for you (if you have the time and patience), but what does the section under "Option" mean?

For example, the buddy up, purse and lucky stations. Is it worth it for a noob to pay into those options (whatever they may be)?

      Questions, questions, questions.

Sure, in the "old days" BIG money changed hands at Trap and Live Bird shoots.

These days all the gambling is "optional" so they're called "options".

        See below for the explanations:

        OPTIONS
Buddy Up - $5.00 (they randomly match you up with another shooter, and your team score competes against other teams)
Lucky Stations - $10.00 ($5.00 ea. Station) (they randomly pick two stations, and if you shoot the high score on that station, you win everybody's money)
Purse - $15.00 Splits every 7 entries up to 3 places. Each class shoots for its own money. (Class money. So if there are 10 shooters in B class, the first and second place shooters share the money - in this case $150 $15 x 10 shooters)
100% Paid back to shooters. (the club doesn't take a cut of the option money, it's all paid out)
Cash Options are to be paid for in cash. (since the club doesn't take a cut, they use your cash to pay out the winners)
All ties split (exactly what it says. sometimes called "ties divide". "high gun" means winner takes all )

If I were you, I'd skip them for the first few times.

Good stuff! Thanks ysr_racer!!! I'll hopefully get to meet you at one of these shoots at TripleBs or MnM once I get beyond the fun shoots!

All three clubs in So Cal (Triple B, Moore N Moore, Raahauge's) have really stepped up their game.

They're adding new stations and machines all the time.
