Ghost Ring or Front Sight Bead?

Just my opinion, anybody have any strong feelings over ghost ring vs. front sight bead on a shotgun?

Personally, I see no benefit for the ghost ring. I've always used the front sight bead and it seems to work just fine to me. I've also seen mention of that on some of these threads.

I have both the ghost ring & bead sights on my shotguns. I prefer the bead! The novelty of the ghost ring wore off the first time at the range. Shotgun & bead sights are like peas & carrots

My experiences are the same. Bead for the win!

Ghost rings are good if you plan to do longer-range work with slugs, essentially turning your shotgun into a rifle. Beads are better for point-and-shoot work typical for flying targets and for buckshot.

GRS > Bead Sight. Just looks plain cooler.

I also had a trijicon reflex! Bead was still better.

I say most people shoot faster with a ghost ring sight. If you shoot slugs, the ghost ring really helps. Shotguns with slugs are really underrated.

My opinion is if you're well practiced with the bead and you're comfortable using it then that's the better option for you.

In my opinion, it depends on application. For typical shotgun uses, shot on moving targets, go with a bead. Ghost rings are nice for defensive shotgun, especially slugs at distance. I have tritium front sight with my ghost ring sight for low light shooting.

For general usage or busting clays I prefer a bead. If it's a home defense weapon I prefer a ghost ring (just like I have on my rifle). I spend a lot of my range time shooting a shotgun so I am comfortable with both and wouldn't worry about either. FWIW, I took a ghost ringed shotgun once to bust clays and did about the same with it as the bead.
