"Jailed": My First Shotgun - Mossberg 500.

G'mornin' folks, just wanted to announce that as of two days ago I have been waiting impatiently for my new Mossberg 500; needless to say I'm pretty excited to be purchasing my first shotgun. I was torn between the Remington 870 and the Mossberg 500, but I've had a little more time playing with the latter of the two. After all expenses paid, I ended up paying just shy of $382 for it all.

Standby for pictures and what have you when I get it in a few days.

Congrats. A reliable shotgun is a must in any collection. I recommend a Limbsaver as your first accessory. It will make shooting your new boom stick much more enjoyable.

lol.... oem mossberg stock pad does feel a bit like a 2x4.

I put a ati akita stock on mine.... not as plush as a limb saver but more than adequate, adjustable lop a real plus.

Speaking of stocks, has anyone had any experience with the speedloading stock that carries 2-4 extra shotshells in the stock? Not sure if it's convenient at all, but I will be looking into a limbsaver and an exterior ammunition holder.

Oh, and before I forget: I was looking to replace the stock and the forend with wooden components instead of the standard composite; does anyone know where I can start looking for those?

Sorry for the delay, but it's a Mossberg 500 8-shot 12ga., w/ stock synthetic stock and forend. I pick it up on the 23rd.
