    Remington 1170

I was wondering if anyone has had experience with the Remington 1170 semi-auto shotgun. I saw one (used) for sale today, for $325. Definitely shows wear on it, but at that price it's still intriguing. Before this, I'd never heard of an 1170; only the 870, 1100, and 1187. Curious to know your experiences with this shotgun, and whether it's worth it. Mainly looking at trap shooting, and possibly foul hunting in the future...

    Thanks in advance.

Aren't they recoil operated rather then gas?

The 11-87 was supposed to be the successor to the 1100, but there was so much desire for the 1100 that they continued it. The 11-87 is a self compensating gas operated semi-automatic. It can handle 2-3/4 up to 3" magnum loads. It would be a good trap gun or hunting gun and at $325, it is a pretty good bargain. I'd scoop it up for that price so long as it has a choke and length you want. If it has the vent rib and Rem choke, all the better.
