Hey guys... can a few of you school me on the different parts available for shotguns and the names/terms used? I'm doing research on here and don't understand all the lingo since I'm a newbie... I just ordered my first gun (Benellie Supernova Tactical Pistol Grip with Tritritium Ghost Ring Sites) and am trying to research things to eventually get for it.

and you gotta be a lil more specific in what info you are looking for there are so many parts / mods you can add to your shotgun what are you gonna use it for ? is it just gonna be a range toy ?? you gonna shoot skeet/ trap with it ? is it your HD home defense gun? or do you just want a extreamlly tacticool gun

BTW your gonna love that gun my buddy has the non PG pistol grip version and it is fun to shoot

It'll be a home defense gun. I'll probably take it to the range now and then just to get comfortable with it. I want the wife to be able to handle it as well.

Pretty interested in the following, but as I said, my knowledge base is slim to none.

Tactical Lights
Extra Ammo storage both INSIDE and on the OUTSIDE of the gun
Possibly different stock choices/mods/additions

I dunno anything else recommended? Maybe things I should stay away from?

Tac lights there are many choices I would get one with the light /laser combo with a pressure switch normally cost $50-$140 depending on maker

ammo storage for inside you would need mag tube extension if they sale them for that gun and Remember it can hold more than 10 rounds when fully loaded for ammo on the outside find a shotgun shel carrier it mounts to the side or buttstock of the gun and hold 5-7 shells

things I would suggest would be a forward pistol grip mounts under barrel and helps control the gun better between shots and maybe a recoil pad for your wife so it dont hurt her shoulder and maybe some type of scope with a quick release mount so you can use either iron sights or the scope

things to stay away from are anything that is cheaply made ie chinese crap and NCstarr brands just fall apart from the recoil

Home defence needs nothing more than a ext tube, and Tac light..

Maybe a side saddle if you may need to use different shot for different situations. Only if reliable on your gun.

Ghost rings, lasers rails folding stocks is just extra and besides getting cool points with your neighbors could end up landing you and your family in boxes than living your lives another day.

HD I can't stress this enough.. Less the better.. The more on your gun is more to break/fail/go wrong or take time to deploy/turn on which could be your life.

Range stuff sure buy cheap or a 50LB gun but for home defence don't buy tacticool.

But just look on youtube and google images and look at what other guys throw on their rifles and google from there.. To name every add on/company is impossible.

Usually a +2 but you gatta look it up a little..

All guns are different and have different threads and tube lengths even the different companies tubes lengths with vary from each other...

Like on my 930 the +2 was 1/2" too short the +3 was 1/2" too long of the 18.5..

I had to special order a +2m (Right in the middle) from Nordic components..

So just hit up google and see if you can find out.

Elzetta makes a great mount for a tac light....with an elzetta mount you could use a streamlight poly tac light and have a solid setup for about $85.
