    Mossberg 930 JM Pro dissassembly

So I just picked up my 24" JM pro from jail, and going to pull it apart for the first time. I noticed that in the little extra instruction sheet for the JM models they say pull the end cap to get the spring out, then pull the clamp and the extension. I've always seem people just unscrewing the extension to pull the spring on most semi's.

What technique have people been using?

I think its a just its just for safty/ease of feature added to that tube so the spring doesn't fly out at your face quite as hard.. I don't believe its mandatory to be done tho

I haven't shot it yet. I'm planning on putting through some high velocity slug and buck rounds to break it in after I clean and oil everything up tonight. I've shot one before and we had no problem shooting 7.5 shot with a 3 DRAM powder load. I was told that usually it's the 2 3/4 DRAM stuff that that causes the issues. I've got some low recoil buck and slug rounds I'm going to try after I get some cycles on it.

My 930 works just fine with 2 3/4 DRAM 1 1/8oz #8's. Even 1oz loads are no problem. Just keep it clean and it will work fine.

With the Nordic extension the JM uses, it is much easier to unthread the end cap than to unthread the entire extension with the spring under pressure. I find the end cap method allows me to gently remove the spring whereas if I try to remove the entire extension the spring ends up whacking the barrel, etc. as it flys out sideways.

Agreed, I tried both last night and liked the end cap method the best.

I got mine a turners a couple weeks ago when they had the sale. Seems like they scored a pretty good load of them.

I've heard they're starting to show up here and there now. Maybe Mossberg finally kicked up production on them.
