Recoil issue: Mossberg 930 vs. Win 1300

My Mossberg 410 cruiser shows no mercy to old soda cans filled with water.
I'd like to step it up a bit but recoil is an issue for me. Any thoughts on just installing a Knoxx specops stock on a Winchester 1300 vs. buying a Mossberg 930 semi auto with 18" barrel. This is for plinking, kicking up some dirt only.
    Thank you

The mossberg will have less kick.

I would go with the Mossberg, and if you're worried about kick just add a recoil pad and you should be set to go.

Heavier guns have less recoil when using the same ammo.
How you shoulder the shotgun has the most effect on what you feel.
Stock design will have an influence as well.

It's not an exact comparison but I've always felt that my mossberg 500/knoxx combo kicks less than my FN SLP. The Specops stock really tames the recoil to me. It's not a big difference between the two but noticeable after a day's shooting.

However I still prefer shooting the SLP. Recoil is very manageable and a fun gun to shoot.
