    Benelli M4 vs Mossberg Spx

I have recently acquired a spx at a great price (still in jail) but may have opportunity to acquire via trade a M4, but kinda reluctant due to the fact that the rifle I'm trading is a sweet sweet deal xbolt stainless 30-06 zeiss scope etc etc, what do u guys think is the M4 a bad mamajamma? Is it similar to spx?

    About $600 difference.

I'm personally not a fan of them my buddy has a m2 and another a m4 and for their price I wasn't all impressed.. I forget which one but one said it was a bit touchy wih light loads... But then again so is the SPX.

I just jailed mine today as well so can't speak on it but I think the 930 is a good value shotgun.. I think benelli your paying for the name resale value and QC. But I'm sure someone with ore knowledge and experience can say more than my opinions and thoughts

I'd say when yours is out shoot both and see which you like.

I love Mossberg but the fit, finish and general quality doesn't come close to a Benelli.

I agree. My 930spx is incredibly accurate and eats anything but fit and finish are horrible.

I'll eventually add an M2 Field to the collection.

Not even a comparison in my opinion. M4 all the way and I own a Mossberg sem-auto.

But why? I know the operating system is patented on the benelli m4 which it was makes it different than the m1-m2and m3 but what makes you spend 1800 vs 700

If it's just a matter of the operating system, get a Remington Versa Max instead. Same action as an M4 but it self adjusts the gas action for different shell lengths. Slightly less fit and finish than M4.

If they were of equal quality than they would be close in price but they are not. Benelli's are high quality, finely crafted precision shotguns. Mossberg's are not, but in my opinion they are the best shotguns for their price point.

                  .

As others have noted, it's about a $1100 difference...at least.

My Mossberg just shot a 1-inch group at 50 yards with slugs. How much more precise is the Benelli?

No arguments on the quality and craftsmanship though. Benelli is head and torso above the Mossberg.

I own both and much prefer the Benelli. The overall differences are somewhat small and if I were counting pennies I'd stick with the Mossberg. The biggest deal killer for me on the Mossberg is the ****ty safety. It would be hard to find a worse place to put it on a pistol grip stock.

My Benelli just shot 8 slugs through the same hole the first slug made at a 100 yards.

Id like to see video on that...

If that's the case I might have to sell my 700 SPS/M4 off and buy a Belnelli if its putting up groups like that.

How about the post from IPSICK? would you like to see that video too? A 1-inch group from a projectile that makes a 1-inch hole? Hmmm

Keep your 700 and your M4 because I agree with you, I love my 700 and my AR for long range accuracy. All my shotguns are for game, clays and misc. target destruction. I don't know anyone who shoots shotguns from a bench with slugs because why would you?

On topic! The Benelli is a much higher quality weapon and therefore cost more money, it's not that hard to understand. If you can't afford or don't care to spend your money on a Benelli then stick with your Mossberg they are good, reliable guns.
