    (7) A semiautomatic shotgun that has the ability to accept a detachable magazine.
    (1) "Magazine" shall mean any ammunition feeding device.
    (2) "Capacity to accept more than 10 rounds" shall mean capable of
accommodating more than 10 rounds, but shall not be construed to include a feeding device that has been permanently altered so that it cannot accommodate more than 10 rounds.

Although it does not explicitly say, I believe that it would be 10 since that is the limit for rifles and pistols.

The CA limit for semiauto shotguns like my Remington 1100 is 10 rounds.
If you own an imported shotgun like a Benelli, there is also a federal issue of maintaining the "sporting" purpose of the shotgun. Just be careful of what you do.

          I really want a Remington 1100.

Tube-fed exemption is only for rimfire.

                For fed 922r.
BATFE hasn't made it clear what the limit is.
Some say 5 rounds, others say 10.
Most say go with the side of caution and play the 922r parts game if you go over 5 rounds for foreign made shotguns.

That is incorrect. The exemption is for tubular magazines on lever action guns.

Give me one reference to where ATF has said 10. I'm pretty sure that there is not a single letter in existence... My guess is that those that say 10 don't have anything but "Gun store rumors" to back it up.
There are, however, several letters that say 5.

It's up to you what you choose to believe in, letters from ATF or gun store rumors. Me, I tend to go with the ATF letters, YMMV.

Maybe some people confused the mag limit (5) with the max number of foreign parts (10) in an imported non-sporting shotgun?

                      I think so as well.
I say stick with 5, but there are some yahoos on different forums that insist on 10.
