Is a barrel nut needed for my muzzle brake?

So I just got my Tromix Shark brake in the mail today. When I purchased the brake I also followed the advice of C.S.S. about buying a barrel nut.

Did I waste my money on the nut? Or was it worth the buy? If I didnt buy the nut would I have had to use loc-tite for the brake?

Also when installing a brake and you screw it down all the way. Do the brakes line up correctly centered?

Again. I searched for my answer before posting.

I am assuming the barrel nut is a jam nut, so yes you probably want it in order to line the brake up properly. ARs use a jam nut or crush washer, and Aks have a detent to line them up. Yours doesn't have the detent, so you would want the nut to be able to index the brake properly. If the planets align just right, the brake might fit correctly when just tightened all the way down, but don't count on it.

"Sporter" is what the drooling toothless inbred albino with the hacksaw thinks his newly created "dear riffel" is.
"Bubba" is what he and his ugly and ruined rifle really are.
First you are chopping up historic vintage rifles and sticking them in cheap and nasty looking plastic "dildo" stocks that look like some kind of futuristic sex toy that gay space aliens stick up each other's butts.
Next thing you know, you think "Deliverance" is a love story.

      Use crush washer or loctite.

This is the lock nut I got.

Also when buying from C.S.S. use, CSS in the discount code section in checkout. You get small discount every time.

Calguns family never seizes to impress me. First forum that feels like brotherhood. I truly think that this is the best firearms forum on the net. Ive been to many others and there is more of bond between members here then any other. Must be the fact we all feel our pains for being in a state of fudged up gun laws. CALGUNS all the way!
