Bay area training?

Any good suggestions for SF Bay area training in defensive shotgun use? I know Reed's has a good class but next session is late November and I'd like something sooner.

I don't know about class', but you can always go to you favorite range and speak with the range officer regarding training and he can direct you... Lots of times they have someone on staff that will do this on the side.

Chabot used to have a class. Might check their web site.

"Chabot Gun Club offers private instruction in handgun, rifle and shotgun (non-trap or skeet). Most ages and skill levels are welcome. Once foundational skills are obtained, lessons are individually tailored to the needs of the student from the most basic procedures to more advanced tactical skills.

Persons seeking assistance in qualifying for various agencies and services can benefit from our private instruction also.

Firearms are available if the student needs to borrow. To protect the instructor, all ammunition, both for loaned and owned firearms must be purchased from the range at the time of the lesson.

Times available for instruction vary from week to week and are at the discretion of the instructor. Weekend lessons are usually difficult to schedule.

Lessons cost $60 per hour midweek or $75 per on hour Saturday if time is available. Couples and group rates are available.

There is a four hour minimum the first lesson; subsequent lesson lengths are based upon needs.

Your instructor is Rangemaster, John M. Maunder, who is certified in Handgun (including commercial Police Services), Rifle, Urban Carbine, Urban Shotgun, Home Firearms Safety and Personal Protection. His graduates include men and women currently serving in various law enforcement agencies, combat roles overseas and concealed carry permit holders.

Though it is a long ways away still, I would strongly recommend signing up for Louis Awerbuck's class @ Reed's in November. It is my understanding his classes fill up quickly.

I took a defensive handgun course (2 days) from Awerbuck last year and it was great.

Also, another great thing about the class @ Reed's is being able to take a class from a nationally recognized instructor (a shotgun guru) and not have to travel hundreds of miles away (having to pay for flights, hotel, etc...). Plus, you can bring your own ammo.

Chabot doesn't offer shotgun classes any longer.

I probably will still take the Reed's class but I figured anything between now and then would probably help as well.

I still need to call Jackson Arms about their class.

Finished the one day handgun course Awerbuck at Reed's yesterday. NOV will be well worth the wait.
