    AOWs under the radar?

    Thanks Christopher Dorner, you idiot.

One of the changes that the BATFE is looking at and kinda supporting is the removal of the CLEO sign-off. Since, the majority of trusts are created to avoid the CLEO sign-off, they figure if they get rid of it for individuals, people will be more inclined to not form a trust and just apply as an individual.

Yes, I have been reading about that new change. I have my wife and kids on my trust but really for if I die, they will not be stuck with a then illegal AOW.

Another reason why they are looking at getting rid of the CLEO sign-off..
A few years back, BATFE was starting to not like Trusts, because (supposedly) there have been a few incidents in which a Trust acquired a Title 2 firearm and had a prohibited person (felon) listed on the Trust.

I'd put my AOW in a trust even if ATF waived the CLEO sign-off, simply because I want that AOW to stay in the family, so to speak. My wife is added so that she can have control over the AOW without fear of prosecution.

It is too bad Dorner misused the system like that. He claimed to have bought the stuff at Lock N Load in Henderson, NV. I now understand that Nevada law allows long guns to be sold to anyone with a valid U.S. Drivers license from any state. I wasn't aware of that before.

Well, I hope I get MY tax stamp before any new restrictions get put in place!

I can't find a thing in the Nevada code relating to that.

Not to mention the transfer has to be legal in both states under federal law.

I thought federal law says the transfer must happen in the buyers home state...

But Biden said all I need is a shotgun... so I bought an AOW. Hypocrites!

I've "heard" the same thing is true in Idaho, as long as you leave the long guns in the state...but you know how that "heard" thing goes!

The only thing I could find with quick search was the FAQ section on Lock N Load's web site...take it FWIW. Interesting to note that dumb a** Dorner claimed LnL sold him his weapons even though he was not a resident of Nevada: http://www.locknloadgunstore.com/l-13-faqs.aspx

                    *EDIT*

This is the gun shop in Idaho that claims to be able to sell to non-residents as long as they pass the Brady check. I know, I know...rely on gun shop info at your peril! http://www.ponderosasports.com/500%2...%26%20ammo.htm

BTW the owner of Ponderosa Sports is a really nice guy and is willing to ship CA-legal firearms to CA FFL's.

The owner of Ponderosa Sports has had a for-sale sign in front of the place for at least 5 years...business appears very good especially since he's not close to Boise and may be snowbound a bit in winter. Parked in front is a flatbed with an M2 pointing out to the highway.

Lots of class 3 goodness there, not to mention regular stuff. Half the place is guns, the other half is tourist souvenir stuff with a very good selection of Amish quilts. Pretty eclectic and probably worth the side trip.

                        In regards to Dorner...
After he was terminated from the LAPD, he moved to NV and became a NV resident. He formed a Trust in NV in order to acquire his Title 2 firearms (SBR/NS), so that he could bypass the CLEO sign-off.

During the initial manhunt; the FBI, LVMPD and HPD raided his house in Clark County.
LVMPD and HPD had a bolo on him, because they thought he might go back to his house for more supplies.
