Modifications for Benelli Nova

I will be picking up my shotgun in a few days' time. It's the 18.5" barrel 12 gauge pump action version of the Benelli Nova.

Over at Martin Retting, they showed me a magazine extension (if that is the correct terminology) that would fit the gun. It's supposed to be a very simple, screw in part that takes minutes to install and includes a new spring.

I am fairly sure I want to get some sort of extension but I have a couple of questions.

First of all it was $50, which seems like a reasonable price compared to what I've been seeing by searching online. Agree or disagree?

I also tried forum search and saw these threads but they didn't really answer my question fully.

In any case, I don't remember if the extension they showed me was made by Benelli or not. Do you think there could be reliability problems with a 3rd party part? Or am I just worrying myself for no good reason?


Next, I'm interested in getting a tactical flashlight attachment if possible. Now this, I have been having a lot of trouble finding info on. Can anyone point me in the right direction?

I'm open to suggestions, and I appreciate the help.

I also have a Nova and i had a hard time finding original parts for it. I heard good things abaut this company.http://www.davesmetalworks.com/ben.html it might be what your looking for.I baught a Tacstar for mine and it seems to work fine. I chose this after i found out abaut davesmetalwork. anyway this is how mine look like now..

Mine turned out to be 7 + 1 with 2 3/4 shells and it holds less with 3 & 3 1/2 magnum shells. I figure it shold only take one shell for the bad guys. unless i miss...LOL the others have the option to run...

I'll see what brand it was for the extension when I pick up the gun on Friday. I probably wouldn't mind spending $50 to try it out. Is the clamp necessary? Highly recommended? Sold together or separate with the extension?

Also, does that pistol grip mean yours is a supernova? I haven't heard of or seen novas with the pistol grip.

Ohh yea... it is a supernova tactical.. But im prety sure its the same as the nova it just have a pistol grip on it instead. I dont think its necessary to have the clamp and it was sold separately. It did not cost too much, it was like $7 and i think its a good support for the tube just for durability. Although i did shoot over 100 shells with out the clamp and it works fine....

I picked up a Nova Tactical Pump and am enjoying it. It's my first HD shotgun, so I don't have a lot of experience to draw on, but it seems like a good firearm.

I've also looked at the TacStar mag extentions and will probably go with a 2 round extention to make it a 6+1. Have the light on my wish list too... trying to figure out what brand and how to mount it.

Let me know if you find out anything about the light. I will ask around too. I would imagine that you might have to replace the forearm to get a light on there.

I was hoping that w/ a mag extension I'd be able to mount a light on that, either under or on the side. Gotta figure out if there is room I guess.
