Vintage shotgun, looking for info on history (pic)

Hi All,

I inherited a 20ga shotgun from my father-in-law. On the barrel there is the following:

CF Vossberg & Sons Inc
New Haven, Conn USA
85D 20GA 2 3/4 inch proof tested

I tried googling some of this to see if I could learn some history about this shotgun, but was unable to really find much.

Any of you have any knowledge about the background of this shotgun or manufacturer?

God Bless the internet! You guys are right...the marking have started to fade and are very hard to see. CF is really OF and parts of the 'M' have worn down so now it looks like a 'V'. lol...

I've been shooting with it a few times now (clay birds). It's fun to shoot. And of course since it was passed down it has much personal value.
