    5 stand

is it necessary to have a semi-auto for 5 stand? or would it just look funny...

No and it's kind of a pain. I use an 11-87 or my sx3 and I have to use a rubber band to keep the shells from hitting other shooters.

Actually, an O/U is more common in my experience. Either one is perfectly acceptable and useful.

Semiauto required no, you won't look funny, though I usually use an O/U. I also use a pump occasionally...it's just plain fun If you're talking about a single shot, that would be difficult, but if you can reload fast enough...go for it!

They shouldn't be standing that close to you anyway

No.. I just shot 5 stand with a pump this Sunday just as easy as the rest of the guys in the group.

If you want to fit in buy a woody shot gun 870/500 or a nice O/U to really look like you belong but that's if your just going to sit on the bench. Only thing that matters is making that orange clay dissapear. That's how you'll fit in. I think you'll be more a soar thumb missing all your clays with a nice gun than busting 50/50 with a POS.

Shoot what you have, you'll be fine.

I use a field gun for everything.. This duck season I used both a semi and a pump.. they do the job well. I've also used a pump, semi, and o/u for the target games. If ppl can't deal with shells hitting them, they are in the wrong game.
