    ARE OLD SHELLS RELIABLE?

    i have 10 boxes of fresh 12 gauge shells that i want to trade for 20 gauge,
    this guy have some 20 gauge shells to trade me but the boxes look all beat up, how reliable is old target shells 20 gauge?

      Depending on how it was stored. I have some 3 1/2 magnum steel shot from the mid 90s and it still shoots fine. Look and see if there is corrosion on the brass or the metal base. Look for water stains on the boxes. The boxes being beat up means nothing IMO

        I frequently shoot old paper shells from the 1950's out of my guns. As long as the ammo has been stored away from moisture and extreme temps. It should be fine.

          I aquired a case of 12 ga AA CF trap reloads that had been stored in a barn for at least 25 years. Most of the time the barn door was wide open and this one of the most damp and foggy spots on the delta. All of them fired as if new and I reloaded the hulls at least 5 more times.

            after reading this, i think i will b ok, they are not that old may b from the late
            90s but i just wanted to b sure
