#9 for quail?

I have a bunch of #9 shot sitting around and I'm thinking about loading it up for quail. The quail trend to flush pretty close in the area I hunt, so I don't think it will be a problem. What do you guys think?

Smaller than most guys use, but if they are close and the cover is light they should do the trick.

#6 to #7.5 for me. The #6 for later in the season. #7.5 if I have to pick one. #8 will work up close, #9 ... meh. .. not even for dove

Nine shot should do nicely, only problem is that you will need to pick more shot out of the meat.

Quail is far and away the BEST tasting game bird, yummy!

If you use those 9's you will just get frustrated with bad shots and no dead Quail, yes you might get 1-2 but it won't be easy.

Save the #9 for HD.

Buy some 7.5's and don't handicap yourself.
