    Winchester Model 12...info needed

    Hi Gang,
Recently came across a nice Winchester Model 12 (12-ga) with the 30" barrel (my father passed away a while back and left it to me). Near as I can tell it was made in the early 1950's. Seems to be in great condition with the exception of the furniture (cracked stock and heavily worn and chipped handguard). Anyone know where I can get quality replacement wood furniture for this critter? Anyone care to venture what it's value may be?
    Any help would be appreciated.

Too many variations of the Model 12 to guess what it's worth. Grade and condition are everything. Range is $200-$2000.

Stocks are out there you can find them on Ebay and several other sights

Ribbed barrel? if ribbed is it original or aftermarket? rib continue on to receiver or shot at receiver?
    Wood. Field, grade, Trap, Skeet?
    Checkered fore arm or ribbed?
What is the condition of the metal? How is the checkering?

Is the barrel marked "nickled steel"

Does it have a hyracoil stock or some type of adjustable pad?

    Is the bolt jeweled?

    2 3/4" or 3" shells?

Model 12's are elegant and swing very well. I'd use google, check www.hoosiergunworks.com for replacement wood, as well as the current issue of Shotgun News or Gun Digest (Gun List). New wood is easy to find for Model 12's...beyond being sweet shooters, Model 12 has it's own cult.

With a 30" barrel, it may have been setup for waterfowl or trap. If you want a shorter barrel for upland birds or slugs or skeet, they're also easy to find.

        Very Nice

Model 12's are great guns. Repair the damage, keep it in the family and enjoy it.

Thanks for the guidance everyone. No rib on the barrel...no jeweled bolt......original black plastic end plate on the stock...no major dings anywhere (except on the furniture). Blued finish is not bad for a 50+ year old shotgun. It's well used, but was well taken care of. Once it was cleaned and lubricated it seems to cycle very well...nice and smooth. Definitly a keeper! Any strange nuances unique to this shotgun that I should be aware of?
Again, thanks to all for the guidance.
