    Help me spend $1000 for a multi-purpose o/u

Did some CG thread searching and didn't really find what I was looking for.

And Gunbroker prices are so all over the place nowadays that it's hard to tell what's a decent deal anymore.

    So here's what I want/need -

    Want -

    over/under 12 or 20ga.
    Ribbed barrel
Silver receiver with maybe some basic engraving.
    Screw in chokes.
Real walnut stock and forend. No plastic..ugh.
    Under $1000
Used is fine, but not beat up

    I'll use it for -

Skeet for sure and maybe trap. Not really into trap but would want something somewhat suitable if my trap friends finally talk me into it. Too easy and kinda ghey. lol....j/k

Upland birds and rabbits. I do this a lot so it needs to be field suitable and not something I'd be really worried about scratching or dropping. Which I've done while walking on frozen creekside mud. By the way, it's really hard to tell if mud is frozen until you step on it and fall on your arse and elbow and your shotgun bashes against the shoreline and you're cussing loud enough to scare the birds away and you're more worried about your shotgun than your (probably but luckily not) broken elbow.

    What I don't want -

    High trap ribs
    Any black plastic
    SxS
    Fixed chokes
Adjustable stocks or combs (shims ok)
    Crappy fit or finish
    28ga. I can barely find 12 or 20ga now. Where the F am I gonna find 28ga?
Something that will fail after 5000 rounds
A gun from a company with lousy CS or reputation

I have various semi's and pumps so that's not an option. I don't NEED an o/u. I WANT a pretty o/u that works and that didn't break the bank.

I'm leaning toward a CZ Redhead.

Any other suggestions or guns you want to get rid of?

It cannot be inherited, nor can it ever be purchased.
You and no one alive can buy it for any price. It is impossible to rent and cannot be lent.
You alone and our own have earned it with...Your sweat, blood and lives. You own it forever.

The CZ Redhead looks like a nice gun. I have no experience with one. So can't help there.

      Here's one new for under $900.00. http://www.ableammo.com/catalog/canv...s-p-84474.html

      CZ website http://www.cz-usa.com/products/view/...deluxe-103-de/

Here's a decent review of the CZ http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=q2qNDfCBG4U

I like the Beretta 686. I have owned on for 5 years and it's reliable and I love it. But the price used is over your limit.

So if I found one meeting all my specs and under 1K it would be a good deal?

I'm seriously confused lately with the huge swing in prices. Some threads mention finding them for $600 and some are ecstatic about getting one for $1300.

The 686 is a $2000 shotgun, finding one for $1300 is a deal, finding one for $600 is impossible. Get the CZ, they're nice for what they offer

            A Beretta 686 for under a $1000.00 is a good deal if it's clean.

I think right now, most used sell for well over $1400.00. The suggeted retail is about $2,200 to $2,400.

Here's a large listing of Berettas for sale. http://www.gunsinternational.com/Ber...18&start_row=1

Cabellas sells the Silver Pigeon 696 for $1950.00. http://www.cabelas.com/beretta-silve...-shotgun.shtml

If you can, go check out how the gun feels to you. Some people don't like the stock. I don't know what they are talking about. Fits me nicely.
