Minimum Barrel and/or overall length on VEPR 12 ?

Calling All LEGAL Experts!

I would really appreciate a bit of assistance deciphering this maze called a flowchart.
PLEASE remember, I'm only interested in this relative to a VEPR 12 shotgun.

I am considering making 1 of my 2 CA Compliant VEPR 12's into a "shortened" version but want to make 100% POSITIVE certain that it will be CA legal before doing so.

1. Can someone tell me where the barrel length measurement starts at the firing end so I can determine the actual "STOCK" length of the VEPR 12 barrel?
2. Can someone please confirm the definition of "Overall Length" in CA terms?
(Does that include any add ons like brakes on the front and/or butt pads on the butt stock on the rear?)

Per Federal and CA laws:
Minimum barrel length = 18"

Procedure for measuring barrel length is to measure from the closed bolt (or breech-face) to the furthermost end of the barrel or permanently attached muzzle device.

You can accomplish this by placing a wooden dowel down the barrel and mark the dowel where the barrel ends. Then measure from the end of the dowel to the mark.

AFAIK... All imported Molot VEPR-12 come with a 19" threaded barrel.

2. Can someone please confirm the definition of "Overall Length" in CA terms?
(Does that include any add ons like brakes on the front and/or butt pads on the butt stock on the rear?)

Per Federal and CA laws:
Minimum overall length = 26"

The overall length of a firearm is the distance between the muzzle of the barrel and the rearmost portion of the weapon measured on a line parallel to the axis of the bore.

CA measures overall length with the firearm in the shortest possible firing configuration (stock folded/collapsed).

Understood on the folders. I purchased a nice Rifle Dynamics AK to M4 adapter and installed an ACE Skeleton stock on her. Looks and feels great with fixed stock that's light and strong.

Same issue.

Semi-auto shotguns with pistol grips can not have a folding/extending stock. If it does, then it's an assault weapon. [PC 30515(a)(6)]



Penal Code 30515
(a) Notwithstanding Section 30510, "assault weapon" also means any of the following:
(6) A semiautomatic shotgun that has both of the following:
(A) A folding or telescoping stock.
(B) A pistol grip that protrudes conspicuously beneath the action of the weapon, thumbhole stock, or vertical handgrip.
(7) A semiautomatic shotgun that has the ability to accept a detachable magazine.
(8) Any shotgun with a revolving cylinder.
