    small part left from 870 disassembly





    Any 870 guys have any idea what that little piece on the right is? Broke my Express down for the first time and when I put her back together... this was left on my worktable. 9mm for scale. Put her back together and she functions perfectly (trigger works, safety works, pump works)... So no idea what this is.

          I have no clue either. Sure it came from the 870?

              Exploded view didn't help any... but I DID look up the 870 parts list for any detents. There were only two, the safety detent and the mag cap detent. Knocked out the trigger group and the safety detent was good to go... so I googled mag cap detent and found this:

                  Yep...magazine cap detent (spring is gone)...they are set in place with a crimping punch on the barrel ring.
