    HD Shotgun for Wife

Looking for a Home Defence Shotgun for my wife. She does not like my 12Ga. Thanks for your help.

We are going to need a little more info. What is your 12ga? What doesn't she like about it (too heavy, too much recoil, not pretty)? Does she have much shooting experience? Is she a smaller woman?

Right off the bat with no info try to find her a 12ga autoloader that fits her frame. The auto action will dampen some of the recoil, there are also reduced recoil HD loads for up close and personal shooting (might not cycle in some actions). If she is scared of the 12ga in general, look for a 20ga pump or semi.

^^ All that. Give us a bunch of details and you'll get lots of help. Also, the Gals over in the Ladies Forum can really get her on the right track. Tell wifey to post a thread over there and explain her issues. She'll get the best advice from that group.

Have you consider a Youth model shotgun for your wife? They are smaller and maybe a better fit.

You can take a look at a Mossberg SA-20 tactical or Weatherby 20 ga SA-459. Both are semi autos with a short stock and barrel.

I will take a look at youth model, the Mossberg SA-20 and Weatherby 20 ga SA-459. Boy do I have my work cut out for me. As for me I'm trying to find a Benelli M3 or M4. If she gets a new one Papa Bear gets one too. Thanks for all your help.

There's a couple M4s in the for sale forum now.

Good luck on finding a Mossberg SA-20 Tactical or a Weatherby SA-459 TR in 20 ga. They are as hard to find as unicorns - like just about anything else gun related right now. I suspect both are the same gun since both look very similar with the same specs and both companies buy them in Turkey. I believe the Mossberg comes either with or without a pistol grip. The Weatherby only comes with a pistol grip.

Choate makes mag extension tubes for both. I believe the tubes for a 20 ga Benelli Nova works on both. Choate now makes one specifically for the SA-20. So I imagine it would work on the SA-459 as well.

Another option for your wife is a 12 ga using low recoil shells. Many ammo companies claim a 40% reduction in recoil which puts them in the same category as a 20 ga.
