As you can see, the cord is pretty long. I was planning on mounting the switch on the right side of the forward grip. Any ideas on what to do with the slack?

Couple of issues - you'll need "some" slack as it appears the light is mounted on the magazine tube, so gotta have some slack. Not too much though... You could get creative with zip-ties to accommodate for the extra you won't need, or simple electrical tape, black of course, might be an option. Try zip ties, zig-zaging slack to light mount to the left... just a thought.Thanks!

J/K. Nope, it's the loading port. Holds 5+1. Ejects out the right side of the receiver (which is why you can't see the bolt).
