Greetings Fellow Shooters & All Wannabee's:
I purchased a New England 20 GA 26" Pardner for my 14 year grandson on the 26th....and we got it on the 11th of January. We reload all our own ammo, 357's, 12 and 20 GA....never had a misfire in all 3 rounds. He shoots the Browning Citori 12 O/U, Winchester 1300 20 GA Pump, Savage O/U {20} and a CZ 20 GA O/U. We saw a used Stevens 20 GA {single shot} in the local gun shop and we both thought it would be fun to have a single shot..we looked and we went with the New England 20 GA.
I HAVE NEVER HAD A SINGLE SHELL hang up in any weapon I have shot...we use a MEC 600 Jr, Remington Gun Clubs for the 20 GA, Claybuster Wads, Unique & Red Dot powder and Winchester 209 Primers.
We went out yesterday to shoot the new shotgun..be advised that I DID NOT CLEAN THE SHOTGUN before as others have said that it doesn't matter, just shoot it and then clean it.
However, here is where we got in trouble. First round went ok, then from on, we would insert a round but it wouldn't eject {the new shotgun has a ejector type ejection}....We shot 3 boxes and at least 50 or more rounds had to be "poked out with a trowel" and you can be assured that we weren't happy campers. We had the Savage O/U and not a single problem...
I came home, took the shotgun and cleaned it and used a drop or two of Remington Oil and thought that was the problem {not cleaning the gun before shooting it}.....we went back today and the problem was even worst.
First round was ok then next 15 had to be forced out with the wood trowel...
Shot up the 1 box and came home...recleaned the gun and sat in the reloading room and counted every 20 GA round we had loaded. 1166 total.
I went and separated the rounds that would insert and the rounds that WOULD NOT insert. 447 wouldnt close nor fit, the action and if closed {forced}, they wouldn't eject. 719 of the rounds fit and ejected. I have no idea what the problem is. I will go back out with some of the 719 rounds that inserted ok but I don't have the slightest idea what is wrong with the shotgun, but rest assured the grandson and I are not Happy Campers here in Riverside.
