Just Picked Up a Benelli M1

    Hi All,

Thought I'd share my new addition to the family. I just picked up a Benelli M1 Super 90 - 12 Gauge from a fellow Calgunner.

Looking forward to going out and shooting it. I shot a friend's M1 out in BLM, and decided to get one for myself. Now, can I shoot skeet & trap with this pistol grip? If not, anyone know where I can get a field stock? Or anyone have one they want to sell?

    Here are some pics.

What's the barrel length? Does it accept chokes? Most skeet ranges require a straight stock and minimum 24"barrel. Benelli accessories are very expensive new. Definitely post a wtb ad here and maybe shotgunworld.

I believe it's either a 18-20" barrel, and yes it does accept chokes.

Most ranges I know of that's too short. At that point you're better off buying another shotgun the price you'll pay for a barrel and stock.

You can buy a field stock directly from Benelli, but they look to be sold out right now.

Also in the m1 you have to use a heavy load to chamber the next round. So don't buy the cheap stuff. I buy 1 1/4 only or higher.

It will cycle 1 1/8oz loads just fine. No need to shoot 1 1/4oz, except for non target applications:-)

congrats on your M1 Super 90. i picked up a OEM factory standard stock for mine on Gunbroker a year or so ago; was a law enforcement take-off in new condition.

neither the stock or barrel are cheap in the real world. parts are expensive; that's the downside of Benelli shotguns. i suggest you start cruising the online auctions, and don't forget the 'Marketplace' here on Calguns. but really, a very fine shotgun.

You can find used stocks every now and then. The M1 stocks are super cheap compared to the M2 comfortech. I shoot cheap walyworld ammo through mine all the time. It likes the Remington bulk pack and NOT the Winchester. The only thing about the benelli to watch out for is adding too much weight to the gun. It can negate the inertia system. Another thing to watch out for is with a pistol grip, if you jab forward on the pistol grip while shooting(say you flinch), it can also negate the inertia system. With that said, I have a 9 round magazine on mine with a surefire so weight hasn't been an issue.

I haven't had a chance to go shoot it yet, but I shot a friend's on New Year's Day, that's why I went out & got one for myself.

I was going to do the So Cal Skeet Shoot, but the OP there said that I'll need a field stock instead of the pistol grip. I've been all over GB & eBay, there's been a couple on sale for $150+...where brand new they're $95...so I'm waiting for the brand new to come back in stock...
