    Which Barrel?

I Have a synthetic 870 with a 18" model 24449 smooth bore for home defense and want to be able to swap the barrel for skeet and trap. I have looked at a 28" wingmaster standard and light as well as the express. From what I can tell the express barrel comes with 1 choke and the wingmasters come with 4.

Can anyone give me any insight as to which barrel would be best for general skeet and trap?

28" barrel with removable chokes. Additional standard chokes cost around $20 each, so figure that into the price of the barrels as well.

Thanks NG. Unfortunately, all 3 Barrels are 28" and have removeable chokes. Does anyone know the advantages of one barrel over the other?

Wingmaster-----Polished blue finish , mid bead added, three choke tubes (Full, Mod, IC)

Wingmaster LC (light contour) Same as above but is 2-3oz lighter

Express---Matt finish, front bead, one choke tube (Mod)

From the info you provided, you're going to want the Wingmaster Standard barrel. You want all the extra weight of the standard barrel for clay games and if you get four chokes with it, they are most likely cylinder or skeet, improved cylinder, modified, and full. You can shoot any of the clays games with one or another of those chokes.

I think what NG was referring to was, that you get 3 extra chokes with the Wingmaster barrel, i.e. $20/choke = $60 you don't have to spend to buy chokes later if you buy the wingmaster standard barrel now.

Besides, it's a Wingmaster, it's meant to shoot things out of the air, have fun.
