What's your budget?
There's quite a few 870's here in the marketplace, just use the advanced search to find them. -
i picked up a stevens 320 12ga imported by savage from Big 5, it came with a 18.5" barrel, you can get the 28" from savage. i also got the ghost ring shight really bright in the daylight, all n all its just your basic home defense shotgun but if you get that longer barrel im sure it will kill the same ammount of duck a benelli will, i paid 260 all together after the background check. ive gone through 2 boxes of clays, atleast a 1000 rounds of the cheap walmart ammo, a few boxs of slugs and 00 bucksot not one single time have i had a problem but i also clean my gun after i go shooting everytime. for the price you cant beat it this gun has been flawless and i cant do anything but recomend itComment

I have also heard good things about the stevens and it's pretty cheap price-wiseComment

If you like nice things that were lovingly put together by experts, get a used 870 Wingmaster (or better yet an Ithaca 37).
If you just want something that goes bang, find whatever is on sale that appeals to your aesthetics.
Definitely check the classifieds here and check out the local gun shops in your area. Find a shop that likes getting people into good guns that they can afford, not just getting people into ARs and Remington 870 Expresses. I've had generally good experiences with the Bay Area Gun Vault in Mountain View and extremely good experiences with Ralston Rods and Tackle in Scotts Valley. Imbert and Smithers has a pretty excellent selection of used guns out on the floor.Last edited by NapalmCheese; 01-02-2013, 2:53 PM.Calguns.net, where everyone responding to your post is a Navy Force Delta Recon 6 Sniperator.Comment

I agree. The Wingmaster is a great gun. But if you're on a budget, don't count out the 870 Express. If you like nice things that were lovingly put together by experts, get a used 870 Wingmaster (or better yet an Ithaca 37).

By no means do I discount the 870 Express, I own one (and still use on occasion just because it feels nice) which I purchased new 6 years ago. It has been a good gun. I recently purchased one for my girlfriend to use as a duck gun and it's not as nice as my express from 6 years ago. The workmanship on the Express line seems to be going downhill. It's not uncommon to find used Wingmasters, especially 2 3/4 inch only versions that are competitively priced with a new Express though, and given my recent experience I would prefer the used Wingmaster. If I wanted a pump gun RIGHT NOW and couldn't hold out to find a used Wingmaster (or whatever else I like) I would buy an Express.Last edited by NapalmCheese; 01-04-2013, 4:30 PM.Calguns.net, where everyone responding to your post is a Navy Force Delta Recon 6 Sniperator.Comment

Get to Imbert and Smithers in San Carlos, best selection of used guns on (on the floor) that I've seen in a long time. Last time I was there they had a couple of Winchester M12s, Ithaca 37s, and I believe 1 Wingmaster.Calguns.net, where everyone responding to your post is a Navy Force Delta Recon 6 Sniperator.Comment

/Thread.
You will notice the Ithaca is a bunch smoother than the 870
