    Help, Saiga 12 fail.

Bolt is stuck at the rear position and does not want to release. The bolt hold button has dissappeared and seems to be inside as sell. This happened while I was shooting it. Other than this it has been a reliable gun. Even with pro mag magazines to my surprise.

First time ive ever had such a catastrophic fail on any gun. Suggestions will be very much appreciated.

Take it apart carefully and look for the little spring that is supposed to hold the bolt hold button down.

Chances are this spring came loose and is stuck somewhere in your action and is fouling things up.

Do not force the bolt forwards unless you want to buy new parts.

Be very careful when taking the dust cover off as there is quite a bit of pressure inside.

Looks like the bolt hold open is stuck in the action. Dont know if it broke but it went up and its holding the bolt back. It looks like a hook.

Theres no way I can take the safety and the recoil spring/guide off, theres not enough clearance.

I tried moving the bolt back and trying to move it out of the way but it wont move.

At this point it looks like all i can do is file it and just buy a new bolt hold open.

Try some breakfree and see if that will free it up. Are you able to remove the Shepherds crook or retaining plate to get the trigger group out?

^^All that is sitting under the bolt. I'm affraid if i let all those things loose i'll have an even bigger issue. Maybe this has happened to someone here before and can shed some light?

I dont recall if the bolt hold open is broken or if it really looks like that.

You can check over in the Saiga 12 forum for advice on how to get your bho free. If you do decide to remove the dust cover and charge handle spring, stick the end you're working on in a pillow case so all the parts will be contained in the event they fly out

              Dust cover already off.

Cant take recoil spring off, not enough clearance.

You need to beat the recoil spring off and pull the BHO down. The spring jumped the shelf and pushed the BHO up instead of holding it down. You'll need to cut a groove in the shelf and bend the spring down to keep that from happening again.

Ok so I finally got it apart. Did what you told me, all it took was a flat head screw driver and some force.

I know how to put it back together but I have a couple questions before I put it back together:

                  1. Looks like there already is a grove, is that it? if so, how much deeper do I make it?

                  --------------
                  2. Where in the spring do I bend? how much should I bend?

                  Thanks guys.
