    Adjustable choke

    Hello,

I'm looking into some shotguns for sport/home defense, and I know my father has an old shotgun with a integrated adjustable choke. It seems pretty nifty, but given that many shotguns do not have this attractive feature, I'm wondering if there are any negative/unforeseen aspects I should be aware of before buying.

    Thanks!

Do you want an AOW or C&R SBS/SBR in CA?

I would go with a shot gun with choke tubes. Ploy chokes are big and Bolky.

        Also looks like a Blunderbuss.

In used shot guns, I have seen poly or adjustable chokes on a lot of different shot-guns. The adjustable is very conveinant because you just turn the choke body until desired choke is ahceived. I would not get a self adjusting poly choke for home defense - these self adjusting choke's are for trapp and hunting - first shot 1/2 choke, then self adjusts to 3/4 choke, then self adjusts to full choke.

My larger concern is not the poly choke but the gun and mag capacity behind it. Your father's gun may be just fine. What is his gun and what shot-guns are you thinking of. Because of the tight tolerances and thin barrell walls, if you are have a adjustable choke put in something, I would take it to a GUNSMITH that is knowledgeable about shot-gungun's and has a lathe
