Saiga 12 Pro-mags not locking into place

I just recently purchased a Saiga 12.

I purchased some pro-mags from Excile for it and they do not lock into place. I contacted Exile and they told me I needed to contact Pro-mag about it.

I figured before I did that I would ask the question on here. I have about 5 10 round pro mags, non of them will seat all the way down to lock.

I however also purchased some SGM Tactical 10 rounders and they work perfect.

The locking lip is differant on both. the promag as some kind of metal shroud and the SGM doesnt. However I just removed the metal peice from the promag and it didnt make any differance.

Anyone already run into this and have a solution for me?

Round Pro-mags will fit with a little trimming. Do a search to see what's needed to make it fit, mine only took a few seconds with a box cutter to fit in nice and snug. Some people either like the Pro-mags or hate them, but if it works then what's not to like?

Promags never fit! Got them way in the beginning and they sucked. Then Promag took them back to have them replaced with the GenII that supposedly fixed the problem and they still didn't fit. I absolutely gave up on them. Its a nice looking mag for pics but thats all they're good for. AGP all the way FTW!

I just sent promag a tech support email about it. see if they respond. Thanks for the info on the Gen II, if they offer that I will tell them no thank you.

Might try trimming one to see if I can make it work. if I can get one to work will probably fix the rest.

A dremel tool can do just about anything

Pro mags and tapco needs trimming to fit sometimes.

I dont ever buy Promag because there always no good. The ONLY promag that Ive heard works, is the Saiga 12 10rnd Drum. I just bought one off here but been waiting to receive it.

Like other said, trimming was the key.

googled it and there are a few videos out there about it. glad I googled it because where I thought I would have to trim isnt where I needed to trim. but once I got it trimmed they click right into place with no problems.

If anyone needs help with this I can take a few pictures and also give you links to a few yourtube videos.

Use Surfire mags only.

If this is the promag drum, the one I got had instructions that you needed to sand the mag in specific places due to variances in S12's. Sounded like a BS excuse they were making, but I did it and it is my most reliable magazine for my S12.
