Mossberg 500 Tri-Rail Forend

I have a Mossberg 500 "security" that I am looking to put a rail system on the forend. Every product I think I find says it wont fit post 2008 Mossberg 500. I would like to know first if I have one of those or not, second if so what do I need to do to get a rail system on my slide action forend.

i've been looking around for an aftermarket forend for my 500A as well. kind of annoying because the forend has the the action slides molded into itself, whereas the older 500s did not. i've seen some people order it straight from Mossberg and they assemble the slides to the forend for you. i've also seen a couple youtube videos where they take apart the action slides from the forend and now you can use any aftermarket forend.

i just want to get my side saddle on, so it looks like i'll just be trimming off some of my forend to make sure it clears.

Look ( with the shotgun unloaded of course ) at the muzzle side of the forend end to see if it has a nut with two slots on ether side on the front of the forend holding the forend in place or if the forend is part of the action tube assembly - if it is you will have to replace the whole dang action tube assembly with a 7-5/8' version ( don't forget to get the nut also ) to fit most after market forends like your talking about wanting to use since most are 7-5/8" heres some pics of the action tube assembly off of the gun / taken apart from my for sale post to give you a general idea what to look for ( its the black tube with two arms it has the nut your looking for on the front ) and I'll also include a pic of what a tri rail forend for a Mossberg 500/590 looks like I hope it helps
