The bullet button issue is really a matter of taste. Would you rather have the pistol grip or whatever, or would you rather be able to rapidly change mags?

I thought all saiga 12s, require a mag lock regardless if it has evil features or not.
      Edit:
I just checked the shotgun flow chart and i am correct.

Ya, you need a maglock with a saiga 12 gauge, though not so with the rifle

This does not apply to shotguns.

CA's assault weapons laws for rifles are different than those for shotguns and those for handguns.

No matter how it is configured, a Saiga-12 must have a maglock (operate using a fixed magazine).

I suggest learning a little more about CA AW laws before you buy something which you might accidently make into an AW. There are different AW laws for shotguns, rifles and handguns. Learn and know all of them!!!!!!!!!

What was meant by BB or no BB was some places back east sale the Saiga 12 with no Bullet button installed. Last year a place in Louisiana had them for cheap with no bullet button. $400ish?? Just looking for prices not legal council.

Check out your local gun shop/stores and gun shows, they're no where near $400ish in California. The ones I've seen are more close to $800ish after tax & DROS.

The SAiga needs rather extensive work before it is a reliable weapon, so you'll want to get one that's been properly converted. Don't buy the cheapest NIB you find, 'cause you'll have to drop in another $600-$800 to make it a good weapon. If you find one for less than $1200 that has supposedly been converted to a reliable firearm, I'd be cautious.

That's from several months of research. You might want to think about a VEPR 12 instead. $1035 CA ready, and all the working parts, pistons etc., are chromed by the factory so it's ready to fire after wiping it off out of the box. The parts are machined instead of stamped, so they are better quality. Every review I've read about them has been really positive, whereas positive reviews for the Saiga are generally on one that's been thoroughly converted.

Not having fired either though, I'm basing this one hours of reading and research from those who have. I'm waiting on my VEPR 12.

If you do not know the laws regarding your purchase I suggest you not to purchase one then. No offense here at all, I think the laws here in CA are highly unfair and unnecessary.

Well, without a maglock, it can not be legally imported into CA by a non-CA FFL dealer with an assault weapons permit and transferred to you.

Typically, a CA FFL dealer with an assault weapons permit will charge you an extra $100-200 to import a non-compliant firearm and make it CA legal. This is in addition to shipping fee and transfer fee. So factor that cost into the price, when shopping outside of CA.

Lol, the newer 2011+ s12 are much better straight out of the box, installing an autoplug makes its pretty good out of the box, 2.75" target loads to 3" slug

Thanks for your second hand insight
