    Mossberg 590 Flashlight Help

Hey guys, new to the forum. Pretty into the intellectual side of survivalist type things, prepping, and worst-case-scenario situations and such. I was hoping to get some advice from some good folks on this forum.

I got this here Mossberg 590 with the heat shield, and flashlight and other fancy things. However I have become stumped of a good way and location of securing the button/wire for the flashlight. It would be fine on the side of the heat shield I think, but I just know it's loose now because a Velcro solution was a bad choice. I heard to use a strip or two of bicycle inner-tube and just tie it to the side of the heat shield? but I thought it sounded iffy. I would love/appreciate any suggestions on this matter. Thank you so much for your time and wisdom

P.S. I just got new DL123A batteries for the light, and its bright and all that, but the button to turn it on seems very finicky and i cant control it at all, it just stays on until I jiggle it into the right random position for it to stay off. So is this light just awful and broken? anyway to salvage? if replacing is best option, what kind of cheaper options for a light for this gun are there? thank you so much again

What do you have there, looks like a Maglight, Velcro? inner tube, really.

You can't just throw any flashlight on a shotgun, recoil will kill most of them.

My choice for a light Streamlight TLR-1
Mount for the TLR-1 www.cdmgear.com MTR or the BMT.

i got the gun this way, and it had been shot before with thte light not having issues, is what i was informed. i know its not a maglite though.

the light you suggest and the mount look like a nice combo, a little heavy on my pocket book but I think it would be worth it. the gun is setup pretty well besides the light. i hear its a pretty sought after stock.

thanks for you help any suggestions/help from others is always greatly appreciated.

An Elzetta mount with a Streamlight Polytac is the way I am gonna go...wanted a light that runs on "AA" or "AAA" batteries but the ones out there that I have seen just don't get that good of reviews.

How many parts in that Elzetta, do you have to take it off in order to remove the barrel.

The mount has the following parts:
              2 rail mounting castle screws
              1 flashlight tension castle screw
              1 accessory rail
              2 small accessory rail screws

Havent removed the barrel with it mounted (yet) but Im guessing it wont be removed since it is rail mounted and the entire forend comes off. I will follow up to this the next time a break down the sg.

It took me all of 10 seconds to mount the rail with the thumb screws and insert and tighten down the flashlight. A solid yet easy install IMHO

Just an FYI, the accessory rail doesn't appear to be removable and accessory mounting screws are intended to an additional rail if desired. A nice touch if you really want to add more stuff but are lacking rail space.

All those protruding screw heads, and that additional rail (used for what?) sticking way too far out there, are just items to get snagged.
The BMT/MOD-C is a much smoother and streamlined design. No extra anything to get in the way.
