    shoot before buying?

I'm in the market for a new trap/skeet shotgun... there is sooo much information/opinions on this and other forums that its very overwhelming.

A quick question that i haven't seen asked is.... do you all actually shoot the shotgun before buying it?? either at a gun range or borrowed a friends... How will i know if i can get a 30" or 32" barrel on target quickly like i can my 28 or 26" guns i already own?? will i even like swinging the longer barrel??

Are there any ranges in southern California that have a variety of shotguns we can test/rent to help us make a decision? i've called the two i visit and they both just have one model to rent... either the Beretta A300 or Browning pump.

I currently own 2 Rem 870s in 12 and 20... i'm looking to upgrade into an o/u or semi but before i make that investment it would be good to know how it shoots. Or do you just buy based on the way the gun fits you in the gun shop?

    Am i over thinking this??

i just called Triple B and yes the gal said they demo shotguns... will have to check them out.

I guess i'm curious if most of you have fired your shotguns before buying them?

          Yes and yes.

Best to go shooting with what you have just to get out there. Rent if you can to try different guns. But the most guns I've tried were guns being used by fellow shooters , when asked will let you take a few shots.

Until you can hit targets with something.....shooting others will just be an exercise in shouldering and how you like the fit and feel.

When you can break targets with one gun then it will be ovious to you when another gun makes it easier to break them for you.

Show up at Triple B on Sat the 15th for their Christmas Party, they'll have a bunch of guns you can shoot for free.
