Hi all-- my Mossberg 590a1 SPX has a metal retaining plug to keep the magazine spring from flying out. Do I have to keep this thing in? I know it's there for safety reasons, but it's a pain to keep having to pry it out when I take the gun down to clean it. Doesn't seem to effect the gun's functionality. Thanks.

I have witnessed more than one shotgun fail in a class where the spring in a mossberg was sticking out the end of the extension tube.
I so not know the original configuration and why the spring came out of the extension tube.Rule 1- ALL GUNS ARE ALWAYS LOADED
Rule 2 -NEVER LET THE MUZZLE COVER ANYTHING YOU ARE NOT PREPARED TO DESTROY (including your hands and legs)
Rule 3 -KEEP YOUR FINGER OFF THE TRIGGER UNTIL YOUR SIGHTS ARE ON THE TARGET
Rule 4 -BE SURE OF YOUR TARGET AND WHAT IS BEYOND IT

Bounce a ball in Football that's a fumble. Baseball, no bouncing at all. Bounce a ball in Hockey, well that's a mandatory drug test right there...Comment
