... My son has an 870, the 3 1/2" magnum version. I've shot 870's for decades, but I'm not familiar with the 3 1/2" model. My son is in the process of converting it into a "tactical"-style shotgun, and I would like to buy him a barrel for Christmas.
My question is, can I purchase a barrel intended only for a 3" gun and still fit it to the 3 1/2" version? Are they compatible?
To forestall the inevitable "trade-it-in-for-the-correct-gun-in-the-first-place" responses (which is what I would do, by the way), he wants to build on THIS GUN.
