    Seeking shotguns...

    Hey guys,

Well I'm a sucker for Turner's sales and I want a shotgun to round out my inventory, so I was hoping to get some opinions on these shotguns:

    *Mossberg 500 Persuader
    *Remington 870 GA Express
    *Escort Aimguard
    *Benelli Supernova

Keep in mind that I'm not looking for a fancy, top tier shotgun, which is reflected in the prices of the guns I've listed. As a matter of fact, I don't even want a semi-auto gun, I just want a strong, solid, simple shotgun with a shorter barrel and, yes I'm a sucker for pistol grips and tacti-cool. Should a shotgun be able to shoot different size shells? I didn't even know there was such a thing. What other features should I be looking for? Thoughts and input are appreciated-thanks...

I don't always save the world, but when I do, it's in 24 hours or less...

Sounds like you want 2 of these. 150.00-199.00 bucks and its a damn rugged shotgun.

Mossy 500/590. Only saying that cause I have a 590 and I like the location of the safety. I'm sure the 870 is a great gun as well.

Another shotgun-noob question here: can these guns shoot non-lethal ammunition, just like the police use as well? I figure if I could use that in a home defense weapon there'd be less chance of me going to jail if I ever shot anyone, right?

              less lethal wont stop someone

get the remington if you want a pistol grip and cheap tacticool accessories

most models shoot 2-3/4 and 3in shells

Impressed by a cheap chineese knock off, uses the term "shotty". No thanks.

Buy the 870, then you'll be able to swap out barrels for different uses, not just which stock you want on it.

You would think after extolling how great this "shotty" is in his review he might have noticed the offcenter bead sight in his pic.

I think I'm leaning towards the 'Moss 500 or the '870. Am I correct in assuming you can just swap out the stocks on these guns if you change your mind about having a pistol grip? Some people have told me that a pistol grip is actually a hindrance on a shotgun?

I'd figure there'd be less chance in stopping an intruder...why else would you pull the gun.

Absolutely ludicrous idea...a little searching should show you why.

Stocks can be changed. If it were my choice, I'd get a used 870 Wingmaster and Tacti-Ghey it out. Plenty of pics on the gallery here of those who've expressed their individuality by doing exactly the same thing.

I'd also recommend a training class asap.

To begin with, I disagree, I'm way too cool to spend hours trying to glean something from the obtuse search engine that gives you results about kittens and carburetors as well as gun stuff.

Secondly, in this ***-backwards state that believes in the rights of the criminal before the rights of its murdered/raped/robbed victims, I was just curious about non-lethal methods, you know, to cut down on legal defense costs, but keep in mind that in the past two months I went from no guns to 2 AR's, a 92FS and now a shotgun, and I've been at the range every week; obviously I will kill if I have to, I have no problems with it, I WAS JUST ASKING.

As for the training class, yeah it's a good idea, but because of all of the eye rolling elitists on here, in the shops, at the range, and people like you, I decidedly taught myself how to shoot, disassemble, maintain my AR's and my handgun-I know I can handle a shotgun, just not which one to buy....

Scratch what I said earlier, if you want a pistol grip go with the 870. The safety is in a much better place for it. Also, go hold some shotguns with pistol grips and see for yourself. They felt good to me, but the regular buttstock felt better.
