    Stoeger Questions

What's the scoop on the Stoeger brand? It seems like I have started seeing more and more of these over the last few years. Who makes them, imports them, etc.? Thanks for the information.

I think they are made in Turkey using Beretta's tooling. Owned by Beretta.

I mean, who needs to dive bomb when SHTF? That only happens in movies.

Thats what I was told by a buddy that has one. I kind of got the feeling that they really sold him on it as basically the same as a Beretta at a affordable price. Thanks for the info

Stoeger is owned by the same people that own Beretta and Benelli.

Having a Benelli Nova, and having used (and therefore cleaned) a buddy's Stoeger P-350, they are NOT the same gun. IIRC they are similar in mechanism, but the Stoeger seems to be more simply constructed. Both go bang just fine in my experience.

I have no experience with Beretta or the Stoeger semi autos.

I have a Stoeger 3500 and absolutely love it. Has the same inertia driven bolt assembly as the more expensive Benelli shotguns. You won't regret the 3500. American Rifleman Magazine named it Shotgun of the Year for 2011.

I own a semi auto Stoeger and love it... Affordable price but like with any semi auto it's a clean freak.

Stay away from their O/U's. I got one, it's pretty bad.

Also have a 350 with pistol grip. Bought it for HD and took it to shoot skeet. Not one bit disappointed with it. Hell of a lot easier to take down and clean than my Mossberg

I have a 28 g SxS Uplander. It feels "cheap" to me when I hold it. I bought it sight unseen so I recommend to hold one and see how it feels to you.

As far a shooting it, no issues.

I own one as well. Great shotgun with a couple of minor exceptions:

Will instantly rust if the humidity is over 30% (not a good duck hunting gun)
Sharp edge on the forearm at the hinge point. Keep hands clear!
Takes a looooong time to loosen up the hinge.

I like that it uses the same chokes as my Mossberg.

The action is garbage. The bottom barrel stopped working after a month, put probably 2000 rounds through it. The stock is heavy and clunky and as mentioned, rusted up real bad real easy. I usually keep all my guns wiped down with a silicone cloth but the stoeger for some reason rusted pretty bad. Hell, I'd give you the thing if you promise to shoot it!
