Three gun competition

I want to know what shotgun people prefer for 3 gun competition. I already have an 870 wingmaster and a beretta 3901. I'm thinking about target acquisition, ease of loading, shell capacity and would like this to serve the purpose of shooting trap with it. I wonder who has something that does all of this.

Hey man,
The biggest 3-gun shotguns are:

Benelli M2 (21-22" barrel)
FN SLP Mk 1
Remington Versamax Tactical
Mossberg 930 JM

You can further modify them to make loading easier by opening the load port, extending and polishing the lifter and polishing the chamber. You can certainly shoot any shotgun that you wish, although those are the most used and competitive.

benelli M2 field with a 21-22 inch barrel seems to be extremely popular.

+1 on what SuperSet posted.
Mossberg, Remington, FN are gas operated.
Benelli is recoil operated. Does kick harder than the others.
I used a Remington 1100 CM for 7 years, 3 good, 4 bad.
Have been shooting a Salient Benelli M2 for 2 years, GREAT shotgun.
If Remington would of had the Versamax Tactical out 2 years ago, I would of bought
one of those.

Benelli M2 on the high end... huge aftermarket support, loads easier than anything else, but also needs a little tuning and upgrades right out of the box for 3-gun unless you buy the performance shop version which is $2700

Mossy 930JM Pro is a great gun at 1/2 the price of the base M2, as far as I have heard runs pretty well right out of the box... and is over 2K less than the M2 3-Gun. Get the 24" as some skeet and trap places have barrel length requirements. Most are cool with 22" but there are a few that require more, however I cant imagine a range that would turn people away with a 24"

Mossberg also makes a Rhythm 930 (Patrick Flanigan Series) which has a 28" barrel and 13 shell capacity. The blue and yellow isn't really my style, but it sure is a good deal for the $800ish MSRP if you are planning on running open or you are going to load 4 right at the buzzer and don't mind the length.

I have the 22" JM pro and it's great for the money. I shot it once at a match and had lots of fun with it. No problems at all and the only mod I had done to it was the welded lifter. It feeds all the ammo I've given it, even the cheap bulk pack stuff.

I also have a 26" VM. It seems to kick a little less than the JM. I sent it off to Triangle Shooting Sports for their tactical package and so far I really like it. I can load 8rds in 5 sec. With the JM, I can load 8 in about 6 sec. I haven't shot the VM at a match yet but it looks very promising.

I think there are still a bunch of Rem 1100/11-87 3-guns out there too

also for open class (not in CA) Saiga 12 and some increasing interest in the akdal 1919
