I recently bought a Nova and have started to stock up on ammo for it. Besides ammo cans what are you guys using to store your shotgun ammo. Im looking for creative and inexpensive ideas.

Not much wrong with factory packaging if you keep it dry. -
I put it on the shelves inside my ammo cabinets.Randall Rausch

For 12ga ammo, I fit 200 rds in each 50 cal ammo can with some desicant, label the cans and stack them in a metal locking locker (stack-on or other).
For 9mm or 5.56/.223, I get 1000 rds per ammo can.
For 22LR, it's possible to get 5000rds in but it's really heavy. I've started putting only 2100 rds per small plastic box for 22LRComment

250-rounds of 2.75-inch 12ga shells fit in a 40mm ammo can just nice...

Just make sure to stack them so the shells are vertical. I had a box laying on its side in my cabinet with quite a bit of handgun ammo stacked on it. I ended up with a box full of oblong shells that wouldn't chamber.sigpicComment

I think 12 gauge ammo is the best deal for ammo other than 22lr. I should start buying more, have about a thousand shells. Keep it in the box, store it in a gun cabinet. I have desiccant in a sock hanging in the cabinet. The desiccant I have is blue, pink when it has absorbed enough moisture. Then I pour it into a cookie sheet and bake it in the oven until it turns blue again.I pledge allegiance to the Flag of the United States of America, and to the Republic for which it stands, one Nation under God, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all.Comment

Most modern plastic cased shotgun shells are pretty darn weatherproof.
I had three 25 round boxes with me for hours in the rain on Saturday, and didn't have any issues with them Saturday or Sunday.
That said any vessel will work. I usually just slide the cases under the bed, but do have a few wooden wine boxes with shells in them as well.
Similar to this.
