    What is safe to....

I just got a very decent condition 30" barrel full choke Winchester 1897. Everything looks good, and it seems to cycle just fine. Bore looks shiny and straight. Holding my first shotgun in hand, I wonder what type of ammo I can shoot through it (with it being 100 year old)? Most ranges around my place only allow slugs. Can it handle it?

Thank you for the helpful tip

I'd rather be at the range!

I would not shoot slugs, or steel shot of any kind.
Low base lead should be safe.
Check to see if it will shoot 2 3/4" shells also.
