    Benelli Supernova Ammo?

I just got my Benelli Supernova chambered for the 2 3/4, 3, 3 1/2. Sadly I am not able to shoot it until Christmas as it is a present. Since I have to wait so long I am doing research on Ammo. I have the stock chokes that came with the gun when I bought it. I was wondering what ammo others have had success with, and if I looked at aftermarket chokes what people would suggest. I mainly shoot to shoot and haven't gotten into hunting. YET! I want to look into quail hunting and all. Also if I shoot slugs out of the gun What Choke do I need to use.

    Thanks for any advise.

Rifled slugs have rifling on them to compress all the way up to a full choke, so no need to worry unless you have turkey chokes on it.

You're using a pump action, with that I've had great luck with the Federal 100 round bulk-packs you see at Wal-Mart for $23 a box.

Federal Flitecontrol buck for home defense, I like the low recoil 00.

I run just about everything out of my Nova. I haven’t incurred any situations where it didn’t go bang and i’ve run bulk, high end Estate & Federal hunting loads, and #7/#8 reloads out of it with no issues.
I haven’t shot slugs out of it ( I use a different shotgun for HD) but I run Win Ranger Low-Recoil 00 for HD.

Never tried slugs in mine. I did notice the stock full choke says no steel. Haven't felt the need to add more chokes.

Other than that, cheapo birdshot for trap, quail & dove. i've used the modified & IC chokes.

Goose, I tired steel shot but I don't remember which choke. Steel just seemed to bounce off the suckers. Dead coyote was one shot, one goose.

Turkey, I used heaver than lead last time with the full choke. 2 shots, 2 birds. Both at close range so no comment on performance.

I'll say this, it's a heavy sucker for quail. But I love the shotgun. It just feels right to me.

        Enjoy yours.

I have run a lot through my nova. What kind of bore do you have? Smooth you can do rifled slugs, not sabot. And pretty much any bird, buckshot.

My supernova has eaten everything I've thrown at it, mostly low base #7 and #8 bird shot for clays(hundreds and hundreds of rounds, approaching 1000) buckshot, slugs 3.5 magnum waterfowl loads, not 1 single issue with this gun, I love it.

Thanks for the comments. Yea I'm gonna be doing a lot of stocking up on ammo. So when Chritsmas comes I can have some fun. I want to get a variety so I can check I like and maybe next year get into some hunting.

I've been feeding my SuperNova Fiocchi ammo... it likes Italian food.

I've also tried the Federal copper plated slugs and buckshot... They do seem to leave less lead fouling in the barrel, but not by much.
