Field Guns: Remington 870 Express vs 887 Nitro Mag

I am looking at Turners Holiday Flyer and they have the 870 Express with a 28" barrel for for $290 after a $30 mail in rebate. They also have the 887 Nitro Mag with a 28" barrel for $350. I am considering getting one of the above as I would like to get into trap/field shooting and maybe even a little hunting. I like the 887 because it can shoot 3.5" shells and its futuristic look and ArmorLokt Coating. I know that 870 express is a proven shotgun, but I have heard that the quality of them has declined? What do you guys think about the two and owners of one or both what do you like/dislike about your toy/toys?

    Go 870.
Buddy had the 887 tactical, looked nice but nothing but feeding and firing problems.

I wouldn't see the need for a 3.5" chamber unless it was going to be a dedicated goose gun...otoh, there are much better 3.5" guns available for water fowl.

Life's journey is not to arrive safely in a well preserved body, but rather to slide in sideways, totally worn out, shouting "holy schit...what a ride"!!
